Abstract

Several questions in the geography of armed violence are addressed here: the impact of acts of war upon civilian populations, the extreme experience of ordinary citizens in their home places, and a human ecology of disaster that emerges when its victims speak for themselves. These issues are explores through the personal testimony of survivors of violents events, especially women, in industrial cities during the Second World War
