A geographical study on the regional pattern of household composition and household formation in Japan

Regional characteristics of Japanese people's concept for household formation and factors of spatiotemporal household composition patterns are identified by analyzing household size, family composition, and household formation. Urban concentration of population in the 1960s resulted in ageing of population in rural areas, while it lowered the ratio of aged population in urban areas. The major factor of changing regional patterns of household composition is the change in age structure
