Abstract

After the 1979 Sandinista revolution, many Nicaraguans fled to neighboring Costa Rica as refugees. By 1989, many Miskitu Indians, Creoles (blacks), rural mestizos and inhabitants of Managua had come to Costa Rica with each group settling in different areas. - (DWG)
