Abstract

In this study, the consequences of regional trade in maize, the staple food crop in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe, are investigated. A linear programming model is used to investigate a strategy of international shipments of maize from surplus to deficit areas. Optimal intra-national transport schemes without trade are modelled to serve as a reference system.―(l'A.)
