Abstract

This paper presents a study on the causes and effects of slope instability on landuse planning in the Upper Sele Valley, using aerospace remote sensing and field mapping techniques. Slope instability is manifested by the presence of numerous landslides. The landslides causing destruction to construction works are located in the fracture fault zones in marly clay and sandstone complexes and on talus materials of old alluvial fans. They are associated with springs getting their water from underground aquifers of karstic limestone blocks of linear spatial arrangements
