Abstract

This paper furnishes new evidence of geomorphological and pedological processes taking place on the terraces of the River Guadalquivir. It deals with the formation of depressions in which blackening of soils to form Vertisols accurs, with the degeneration of these soils by sand contamination, and with the existence of rubefied paleohorizons at the base of current soil profiles
