Abstract

As a contribution to the controversial discussion regarding kind and extent of the Pleistocene glaciation on the Tibetan Plateau additional observations and results were obtained during the expedition in 1989. The hypothesis of an extensive plateau glaciation could not be verified. By the example of the eastern margin of the Tibetan Plateau it will be shown that the maximum extent of the last glaciation is limited to glaciation of isolated mountain groups, isolated or smaller plateau glaciations
