Abstract

Rapid sedimentation of the Amaluza reservoir on the Paute River has prompted a major effort to implement conservation practices on agricultural crop lands and to manage protected forest lands. Research findings of the A. show that recently plowed lands are less likely than pasture or abandoned lands to erode. Believes that active farmers should not be the focus of soil conservation programs.―(DWG)
