Abstract

The paper presents geomorphological, soil and hydrological research on the landslide valley located in Ambootia T.E., continuously active since the extreme rainfall in October 1968 exceeding 890 mm. The landslide covers an area of 56.5 ha, its lenght exceeds 1 300 m. The present landslide starts at 1 065 m a.s.l. and ends at the apex of proluvial fan at 488 m a.s.l. In 1968 an old V-shaped side valley has been overdeepen about 30-60 m by big debris flow and rockfall. Further transformation followed by retreat of main and right niches, feeded by groundwater from very thick colluvia and formation of penestructural shallow slips on the left slope. The continuous deepening of the main gully and chutes led to the undermining of the upper part and devastation of houses and the only road. - (DG)
