Abstract

Coke oven effluents were major sources for PAH. Apart from these sources, high concentrations of PAH were found in non-industrially polluted rivers after heavy rainfall. The equilibrium partition coefficients between suspended materials and the aqueous phase (Kp) were in mostly higher than those calculated from empirical equations, indicating that the PAH are greatly enriched in the particulate fraction
