Abstract

Southwestern Louisiana is the hearth area for zydeco music, a blend of African-American and African-French traditions. It developed into a distinctive genre when rhythm-and-blues music was grafted onto it. Zydeco as a kind of music has spread to East Texas and California.―(DWG)
