Abstract

The influence of the processes of slaking by air compression, aggregate breakdown and surface sealing on soil erosion dynamics was investigated in laboratory and field experiments. These processes were found to be dependent on initial soil moisture and soil surface structure. They determine the amount of soil loss by regulating splash and overland flow. Dynamic deterministic soil loss prediction models have to take these processes into account
